The EtherWAN SFPGIM5AM provides 1 Gbps multimode fiber connectivity for compatible Ethernet switches and media converters. Its hardened temperature rating makes it suitable for industrial equipment, transportation systems, utility networks, and other installations exposed to wide temperature changes.

The module uses two multimode fiber strands through a duplex LC connection. Maximum reach is 275m with 62.5/125µm fiber or 550m with 50/125µm fiber. Confirm your equipment’s supported SFP specifications and installed fiber type before ordering.

Why does this module list both 275m and 550m?
The maximum distance depends on the multimode fiber used. The datasheet specifies up to 275m with 62.5/125µm fiber and 550m with 50/125µm fiber. Actual reach also depends on optical losses from the fiber, connectors, and splices.

What is the difference between the hardened SFPGIM5AM and commercial SFPGIM5AC?
Both provide Gigabit multimode connectivity with duplex LC connectors, 850nm optics, and 275m/550m reach. The SFPGIM5AM operates from −40 to 85°C (−40 to 185°F), while the commercial SFPGIM5AC supports 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F). Choose according to the temperature conditions at the installation.

Will this work in any switch or media converter with an SFP port?
Check your equipment’s supported transceiver specifications. Its port must support a compatible 1Gbps multimode SFP, and the manufacturer may have additional compatibility requirements.
